Black Sheep Pedicab was founded by friends and fellow pedicab operators Jake Thomas and Allen Riddell, who began their pedicab careers in downtown Charleston—Jake in 2013 and Allen in 2014. Both found success as operators but envisioned something greater: a company built by operators, for operators, that could extend beyond the traditional downtown model. Their goal was to create a sustainable and collaborative environment that offered more stability, better opportunities, and a sense of ownership for themselves and their peers.

As their vision grew, so did their experience. Jake and Allen began traveling as subcontractors, providing pedicab services for major events like Okeechobee, Bonnaroo, and Coachella. It was on this circuit that they met Kalina, a like-minded pedicabber from Austin, Texas, who began riding in 2017. Sharing their passion and values, Kalina joined the team, and together they brought their collective experience—spanning more than 20 cities and over 120 festivals and private events—to the foundation of what Black Sheep Pedicab is today: a leader in the niche world of mobile event transportation.
